What to Wear to Your Winter Wedding (for California couples!)

If you are planning a winter wedding in California, you can still dress for the season! While the weather does become crisper, there isn’t a need to bundle up as much depending on your location. If you love the season but are questioning how to incorporate it into your California wedding attire, we have you covered. Today we are sharing our attire ideas that will keep you fashionable and comfortable for your winter wedding.

Focus on The Fabric

One of my favorite ways of incorporating a season into a wedding design is with textural fabric. Choose fabrics like velvet, silk, fur, or bold lace for your winter wedding attire. You can choose silhouettes or fashion pieces that still fit the sunny California weather but the fabrics will stay true to the winter months. Try layering different fabrics for extra texture! You could decide to incorporate some sequins or embellishments for a glamorous winter style.

Long Sleeve Dress

Even in California, you can wear a long sleeve dress! Choose lightweight sleeves or a low back to keep you comfortable. It can still be chilly at night or depending on which location you choose, so these sleeves will be useful. You can choose a tea-length or high-low dress for a whimsical look as well that provides some breathing room. Or, you could invest in a dancefloor-ready gown for the reception and keep the long sleeves for the ceremony only if it will be a warmer day.

Chic Colors

Winter is incredibly chic for fashion! Select your attire colors wisely. I love a monotone wedding outfit! A cool, all-black tux or all-white dress and accessories are timeless for the season. If you love a pop of color, warm reds, deep greens, muted pastels, and navy blue are all wonderful colors to choose from. Consider your design theme when selecting your wedding outfits.

Tip from a wedding planner: Plan ahead with your hair and makeup artist. Share a photo of your wedding attire and work with them to create a beautiful look to match. For example, your pop of color could be through your lipstick or hair accessory!

Accessorize

While we are mentioning wedding accessories, go all out with them for your winter event! Throw on a fur cape or leather jacket. Add an edgy hat or glamorous veil. Or, choose some elegant jewelry pieces and eye-catching shoes! Bold accessories will exude the winter season and are perfect for California couples. You can edit your accessories to fit the weather and your venue design.
